Our Mission
Lincoln Park Preservation Alliance is organized exclusively for charitable and educational purposes, more specifically to preserve, protect, and promote the historic resources of Lincoln Park, Michigan, at the grassroots and Statewide levels.
“Monuments and archaeological pieces serve as testimonies of man's greatness and establish a dialogue between civilizations, showing the extent to which human beings are linked.
-Vicente Fox
Objective
The objective of the Lincoln Park Preservation Alliance is to protect, conserve, and celebrate the historical, cultural, and natural heritage of Lincoln Park for current and future generations.
What We’ve Achieved
In 2005, the Lincoln Park Preservation Alliance (LPPA) achieved a milestone by securing the listing of the Mellus Newspaper Building on the National Register of Historic Places. With a clear vision in mind, the LPPA aimed to transform the Mellus building into a vibrant retail hub, featuring a mix of establishments such as a coffee house, art gallery, and various small businesses. Additionally, they envisioned the nearby Pollak building as an ideal location for a sandwich or bagel shop, or a similar style eatery. Unfortunately, despite these aspirations, the Pollak building met an unfortunate fate and was demolished in 2010.
